Satin Slip Dress

I have always wanted a maxi slip dress like this but was never able to find it. So I decided to make my own. I love the 'nude' color so much but never had anything in nude. So combining the two 'nevers' ... I made this satin slip maxi dress.

This is what I had in mind

front with tie-up waist band

The satin material I bought was a little see-through, so knee-length lining is added.

Sunflower Full Circle Dress

This is the very first home project.

I wanted to make a 70's dress with a simple bodice and a full circle skirt.

Here is the draped bodice with the other half sewn on. I always like to make a sample garment in muslin to see the first before cutting real fabric.

A full circle skirt is the easier part which didn't require any draping. My fabric wasn't wide enough, so I had to divided it into 4 pieces.  Here is the skirt pattern: Skirt is to cut on bias.

So after sewing and stitching.. this is the final product. Neckline is doubled with facing and back is secured with an invisible zipper.

I guess the trick is not to make the dress knee-length to avoid looking too 70's. Remember it's a vintage inspired dress not a vintage dress.

material used: 3 yards of cotton + 1 invisible zipper
